During the ministry of Jesus, He had hundreds of followers, which are called Disciples
A disciple is a follower of Jesus Christ
If I asked you guys, who is a disciple or a follower of Christ?
1. (V34) If anyone wants to be my follower, you must give up your own way
a) Jesus makes it clear, as He say you must give up your own way
Matthew 6:33 “Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.”
b) Jesus is supposed to be the King over our life, but if you are not surrendered then He is not King over your life
1.1 You must take up your cross and follow me
The cross was a killing instrument
It was an instrument of shame for the person who was left for dead hanging on it
Romans 6:6 “We know that our old sinful selves were crucified with Christ so that sin might lose its power in our lives. We are no longer slaves to sin.”
2 Corinthians 5:17 “This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!”
